The Barbados Physical Therapy Association (BPTA) has Elected a New Executive
The Barbados Physiotherapy Association (BPTA) is pleased to announce the election of its new Executive Committee following the Association’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), held on Thursday, May 28, 2026.
The newly elected Executive led by Ms. Marita Marshall will take the Association through the 2026–2027 term, guided by 3 pillars, Advocacy, Education and Policy. Thus strengthening the BPTA’s vision of moving the physiotherapy profession forward with one unified voice so that it is recognized throughout Barbados for its significant role in improving health and wellbeing.
The Executive is committed to ensuring that physiotherapy remains a visible, accessible, and valued component of healthcare delivery in Barbados.
The Executive Committee for 2026–2027 is as follows:

* Vice President: Erica Cooper
* Secretary: Trudy Bullen
* Treasurer: Briana D. Hibbert
* Assistant Secretary/Treasurer: Jaeda Moore
* Public Relations Officer (PRO): Dwayne Hood
This Executive represents one of the Association’s youngest leadership teams in recent years. Their appointment signals an exciting chapter for the BPTA, characterized by fresh ideas, innovation, and a forward-thinking approach to advocacy, education, and healthcare policy collaboration.
Over the next year, the Executive will focus particularly on strengthening advocacy efforts to improve access to physiotherapy services, increasing public awareness of the role and benefits of physiotherapy, supporting continuing professional development opportunities for members, and fostering stronger collaboration across the healthcare sector. These priorities are aimed at advancing the profession while improving health outcomes for all Barbadians through movement, rehabilitation, and preventative care.
As the Association looks ahead, the Executive will work closely with members, healthcare partners, policymakers, and the wider community to elevate the profile of physiotherapy and strengthen its contribution to national health and wellness.
The team remains committed to the Association’s mission of promoting high standards of physiotherapy practice and education while advocating for optimal health and wellness across Barbados.
